Buxa Tiger Reserve:
Location - Buxa Tiger Reserve is located at the district of Alipurduar in West Bengal state of India. Approx 10 Km from the mainland of Alipurduar.
Transportation - You can come here with train root via Siliguri Junction railway station which is more suitable because you may see animals on the way.
By bus service you come through NH 31 from Siliguri.
Flora & Fauna Of Buxa Tiger Reserve
Buxa Tiger Reserve has varieties of species of trees and orchids around 450 species of trees and 150 of orchids. The park has 400 species of valuable and medicinal plants or herbs and 10 species of bamboo trees. Other most popular trees here are Sal, Gamhar, Champa, Chandan, Shishu and Simul,etc.
Buxa Tiger reserve has both grassland and woodland but percentage of woodland is more than grassland which harvest the life of various types of flora and fauna.
A Survey of BTR has been made in may 2000 to 2001, The survey recorded 384 species of birds hovering in the reserve including Eurasian griffon, Shaheen falcon, Great hornbill, Wrethed Hornbill, Rufous necked hornbill, pied hornbill, Chestnut breasted partridge , Collard falconet, Bengal Eagle owl, night heron, black bittern, Emerald Cuckoo, Black necked crane and Black stork,etc.
The reserve has 73 mammals including Asiatic Elephants, Royal bengal Tiger, Clouded Leopard, Indian Leopard, Indian Gaur, Malayan Giant Squirrel, Yellow Throated Martin, Spotted deer, barking deer and Sambar,etc.
65 species of fish , 45 species of reptiles, 4 amphibians species has also been discovered. Endangered species like bengal florican, fishing cat and leopard cat has presence here.

Buxa -
Buxa is a hilly picturesque place in the reserve where mostly Nepali and lepcha community lives. The place has a zero point view where you can watch the entire Alipurduar. Buxa is like a heaven for butterfly, birds and macro object observers. It is mostly known for British era jail for capturing freedom fighters and thats why many people calls it Buxa Fort.
Lepchakha -
This is yet another gem of Buxa Tiger Reserve. Lepchakha altitude is 1097 meter. It is considered a good trekking destination here and the hilly terrain looks beautiful. Despite living in Alipurduar I have never been there. most of the local people are lepcha community which justify the name itself. Elusive Himalayan Grey Langur spotted here last year for first time and a tourist has captured the image.
Jayanti -
Jayanti known for its charming river and view of the mountain calls Pukri. Pukri has short trek which you can take with just 1600 rupees with BTR gov. Mhakaldham is a great place in Jayanti and during shivratri devotees come here. This place is fills with bird life especially various species of hornbills.
