When we hear birds in North Bengal, we mostly think about the most popular destination like Gajoldoba. Though, there are places that have significant or beyond population of exotic and elusive birds in the region of North Bengal. Those birds includes Canary flycatcher, Hornbills, Emerald Cuckko, Various Owls, Eagles, Small raptors like Crested Goshawk, Black bird, Shyama, Sunbirds and migratory birds includes Tufted Duck, Ruddy Shelduck;etc.
Today I am going to share 7 Secret Bird Watching Spots in North Bengal -
1. Buxa Tiger Reserve -
This is the heart of Dooars because it boasts a huge number of birds species includes rare ones like Bengal Florican, Emerald Cuckoo and Black Necked Crane and Migratory birds like Mallard and Ruddy Shelduck;etc.
There is also a hyde made specifically for bird watching at 28 basti inside Buxa TIger Reserve core area. The Hyde cost around 17000 RS per tour.
BUxa Tiger Reserve is very large which spans around 760 km square. There are also species of many butterflies, amphibians like geckos and mammals like Indian Elephant, Indian Gaur, big cats like Tigers and Leopard, lesser cats like Leopard Cat and FIshing Cat and various type of deers like Hog Deer, Sambar Deer, Spotted Deer and Spotted Deer;etc.

2. Rashikbil Bird Sanctuary -
This is yet another gem which is a part of Buxa Tiger Reserve specifically designed for Bird conservation. Rashikbil harvest various flycatcher, owls, kignfishers, barbets, lapwings and herons. Though, the biggest attraction for photographers are the migratory birds that comes here during November and stays till March-April, sometimes even longer.
Migratory birds includes Red Crested Poachard, Feroginous Duck, Tufted Duck and some others birds like Great Cormorant, Great Egret;etc.

3. Raimatang -
This place is also a great place to watch birds like red headed trogon. This birds do come to lower elevation in winter. This place also has rare birds like minivets, minlas, shyamas, Rufous Necked Hornbill and blackbirds.
Raimatang is a hilly village covered with lush greenery and woodlands. This place has a river which cause flood during rainy season from July to to August.
4. Latpanchar -
This is the biggest place for wildlife photographers but still a secret destination for many. latpanchar has the most beautiful birds in North Bengal like Wards Trogon, Red Headed Trogon and Rufous Necked Hornbill; etc. Sighting these birds are quite guaranteed in Latpanchar. The locations are beautiful for capturing this birds perfect image.
Latpanchar is very close to Kurseung or Darjeeling main town but if you come from Siliguri then it will come before Darjeeling.
